McDowell Nature Preserve is again offering FREE family activities all summer. Every Friday from May to September:

6:30pm to 7pm: Playing with Fire: Discover a variety of ways to start a matchless fire.

7pm to 8pm: Family Campfire: Listen to stories, sing songs, eat s’more around the campfire.

8:15pm to 9:30pm: Nature at Night Hayride ($1): Limited seating so register in advance (704-588-5224) or come to the campfire early. During this ride around the nature preserve, look for bobcats, owls, deer, and coyote.
